Debbie and Billy Gong || 07.18.09

Want to talk about a wedding with some wedding details?  Well, you should have been at the See Canyon Fruit Ranch last weekend.  Billy Gong just married to one busy little bee, Debbie Yee.  This beautiful bride put together all sorts of great handmade items that matched the theme of the Fruit Ranch, really adding a nice touch to what was already an incredible setting.  Each guest was greeted with a custom made seating assignment with a vintage fruit label on it, the sign in book was created by Debbie and Billy, guests received a shopping bag that had a custom label made for the day…..I mean, I could go on and on.  The couple pulled off the day perfectly, in my opinion.  Rather than subject their guests to the typical wedding traditions, Debbie and Billy opted to spend the time just enjoying the company of their own friends and family in the gorgeous setting.  All in all, it really made for an intimate wedding, despite the hundred people in attendance.  Thank you Debbie and Billy for including me in the big day and for all the great photos that we have made together.  Also, big thanks to my partner in crime, Keith Dunlop, who helped capture many of the special moments from last Saturday.

I met the Leadbetter’s while shooting a wedding with Keith Dunlop at the Presido earlier this year (http://www.jonclaxton.com/blog/2009/02/09/eliza-and-jon-2709/).  As the six degrees of freedom would have it, it ended up that Jim and I had a mutual friend in common, the one and only Pat Patten of Toobs Bodyboard Factory fame and folklore (www.toobs.com).  So, I’m not sure if Jim planned it this way, but the location of his wedding was conveniently located just minutes north of Morro Bay, and the Toobs Factory Store where it was reported that Jim made some purchases before the big day.   When I went to greet the boys for the first time on Saturday, it was obvious that they taken advantage of their surrounding, haven got out of the water just earlier (indicated by the dripping wetsuits outside).  What would usually slow a man down in to the state of wanting a nap, Jim still had a ridiculous amount of energy left in him for the rest of the day even after being in the ocean for several hours (maybe there really was something in that pink energy drink he was sipping on).  In reality, I am confident that it was a combination of the energy drink and sheer anticipation of marrying the lady of his dreams – Katie.
